Visit to Bubup Wilam

00:00 We acknowledge the Kulin Nation as the first owners of the land on which we live and learn.  We pay our respects to the Elders both past and present, and the elders here today.

00:30 We did a traditional welcome to country ceremony and a smoke ceremony which was really insightful. It opened my eyes to something that the indigenous people of Australia have been doing for a long time before colonisation.

0:46 My favourite part today was the smoking ceremony because we got together and prayed and talked to our ancestors .

0:55 My favourite part was listening to the story and learning more things about the aboriginal what they'd done in the past.

01:01 Gathering around the fire for a smoke ceremony.

01:05 The culture, the land it's it's such a beautiful thing. It just is really beautiful with the smoking ceremony that they do daily. It was an amazing thing for them to start off with.

01:17 I liked using the paddle pop sticks to make the snake on the red carpet. The red carpet was the land. The black was the time the indigenous people have been in Australia.

01:38 I made friends with the teachers, other kids and it was a good experience to them. It makes me feel excited I can learn more about them and we can like learn new things for each other.

01:49 Getting to know new people and just the experience of coming together.

01:56 It makes me feel happy and excited because it's the start of a new relationship.

02:00 Here is the land and here is the sun, and here is my friends and here is the aboriginal people of this land in which we meet today.
