Twenty outstanding young Victorians have been appointed to the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) Multicultural Youth Network (MYN) for 2026, following a comprehensive statewide recruitment process.
Representing multicultural and multifaith communities across metropolitan and regional Victoria, the new MYN members will advise the VMC and the Victorian government on key challenges and opportunities facing multicultural young people. The network will offer informed insights on priority issues including mental health, education, employment, racism, discrimination, and community representation.
The MYN officially commenced its new term on Wednesday 4 March, meeting for the first time to shape its priorities for 2026.
Chaired by VMC Commissioner Dr Judy Tang OAM, the MYN will support the delivery of flagship VMC programs, beginning with Cultural Diversity Week (21-29 March 2026). Members will help amplify youth voices during the statewide celebration, participating in campaign activities, community engagement and key events.
In addition to Cultural Diversity Week, MYN members will support the Multicultural Film Festival in June 2026. They will promote the festival within their respective communities and champion emerging multicultural storytellers across Victoria.
As a significant platform for young leaders to connect and collaborate, the MYN contributes to initiatives that strengthen social inclusion and cohesion. This network further strengthens the vital links between diverse communities and the Victorian Government.
The VMC will share further details about each MYN member on the VMC website and social media channels, over the coming weeks.
