The Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) is deeply disturbed and unequivocally condemns the vile racist demonstration that took place at Northland Shopping Centre. The display of hateful slogans and placards is an unacceptable attack on the fundamental values of our diverse and inclusive Victorian society. There is no place for hate speech or divisive rhetoric in our community.

Victoria prides itself on being a multicultural state where people from all backgrounds are welcomed and respected. These actions are offensive and seek to undermine the very fabric of our social harmony. We stand in unwavering solidarity with the African community, and all communities affected by this incident. We must collectively ensure that such hateful acts are never tolerated.

The VMC remains committed to fostering an environment of mutual respect and understanding. We continue to work with the government authorities, agencies, and communities to protect and defend our social harmony. We encourage all members of our community to work together towards a more inclusive and harmonious society.
