The Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) hosted a roundtable for Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese speaking communities on Wednesday evening, 30 July.
Hosted by Commissioner Silvia Renda, the roundtable brought together 20 leaders from these diverse communities to improve dialogue, understanding and collaboration.
The roundtable, an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the communities’ priorities and aid better engagement, aimed to identify collaborative, community-based strategies and solutions that truly reflect the lived experiences of our communities.
Participants discussed what type of programs best help overcome community challenges, and how to harness the strengths of Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese communities to meet those challenges. Attendees also shared insights into community-led solutions and strategies that effectively raise awareness about the diversity, culture, strengths and contributions of these communities.
The VMC hopes the ideas and new connections from this roundtable inspire inclusive and impactful action to celebrate and elevate Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese communities living in Victoria.
