Victorian Multicultural Awards for Excellence 2025 Highly Commended recipients

The Victorian Government and the Victorian Multicultural Commission have recognised exceptional individuals and organisations whose efforts have strengthened inclusion and belonging in Victoria.

This year’s Victorian Multicultural Awards for Excellence celebrated the achievements of award recipients at a ceremony held at Government House hosted by Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Governor of Victoria.

The champions received awards across 14 categories, including Arts, Business, Emergency Services, Media, Police, Sport, and Youth.

The Prevention of Family Violence Award was presented to Luba Tanevski, a migration agent and advocate with more than 35 years of service supporting migrant and refugee women, empowering them to rebuild their lives after escaping family violence.

The Centre for Muslim Wellbeing, a community-led organisation that works to improve mental health, spiritual wellbeing and social cohesion for Victoria’s Muslim communities, took home the Mental Health and Wellbeing Award.

Founded and led by youth, COOK4CALD, was awarded the Youth Leadership Award for their work in addressing food insecurity by providing culturally inclusive meals and hosting a variety of community events that foster connection, celebrate diversity, and strengthen social inclusion.

Rabbi Shmuel Karnowsky, a Victoria Police Chaplain, received the Police Community Exemplary Award for his dedicated service fostering social cohesion and bridging the gap between Victoria Police and Jewish young people.

The Premier’s Award for Community Harmony was awarded to Ruchi Sharma and Gurdwara Siri Guru Nanak Darbar Officer. The award recognises the transformative work of both recipients in keeping Victoria’s multicultural and multifaith communities connected, supporting community health and wellbeing.

A further 36 Victorians were inducted into the Multicultural Honour Roll, highlighting diverse and extraordinary contributions across the state.
