Refugee Week is a national celebration of the contributions of refugees to Australia. Now in its 35th year, the week also raises awareness about important issues currently affecting refugees.
Refugee Week 2021 will run from Sunday 20 June to Saturday 26 June.
The Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) encourages Victorians to get involved every year by organising or attending events. Meet-ups, feasts and exhibitions can celebrate people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds (refugees) and inspire vital conversations.
This year, the VMC will fund several community events across Victoria to share refugee stories, which will be run by the VMC Regional Advisory Councils. The VMC will also be bringing back the Victorian Refugee Awards.
Explore some of the VMC's activities for the Refugee Week 2021 below, as well as reading some stories we have put together about refugees.
