Statement from the Victorian Multicultural Commission
The Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) wishes our Muslim community a peaceful and blessed Eid al-Adha.
The VMC recognises this lockdown will be particularly hard for our Muslim brothers and sisters as they observe this sacred and special celebration for the second year without seeing each other in person. The VMC acknowledges the sacrifices of the Muslim community, indeed of all Victorians during this lockdown.
While celebrations held virtually are not the same, they are still meaningful and special. As families and communities come together online for prayers, to connect or share a meal, there remains a kindred sentiment that each of us is looking out for one another.
The celebration of Eid al-Adha has a clear message of devotion and kindness. To our community leaders and faith leaders, the VMC acknowledges your ongoing support of not only the Muslim community but of all Victorians in these challenging times. For this, the VMC expresses its deepest appreciation.
The VMC is hopeful that better days are ahead for all of us.
Eid Mubarak to you and your families.
